Your business is a reflection of who you are

One thing that you will never hear me do is bash competition or make false claims about what we or similar companies may do or not do. Why do companies insist on doing this? Most people understand that if another company does that, its due to the fact that they run a similar business to yours and they are obviously biased.
People already assume that you feel your company is better than the competition. Bashing them only makes you look silly and not confident in what you do; it is a sign of weakness. I feel speaking poorly of your competition can hurt your business. The majority of people do not react well to the negative energy and it only hurts the overall view of your industry. I like to think of my competitors not as a competition however affiliates. Especially in this industry, Our ONE goal is to help our clients find success, happiness, and love. If I have someone that I don’t feel I can help, I let them know their other options besides the service I provide. I have even taken the time to help them research these other options and if they agree that one of them is a better direction for them to go, I help them get started. I feel if anything you should find out what your competitors do really well and build them up. You never know when you might need something from them, referrals, brainstorming, support, recruiting for a client that may travel a lot, etc. People who criticize others are afraid of their own short-comings. Picking apart others makes them feel powerful for the moment, but it’s not a secure power, it’s contrived power. I meet a lot of people that say they have tried different things or companies and they did not have the success they desired and I let them know that I don’t believe that anyone personally sets out for their client to fail, we all want our clients to have success. Being a good person is lost in the busy world we live in and I believe when you are a positive and truly want the best for everyone, you stand out. When you do good deeds, are a good person, and positive you will receive the good and positive energy the world has to offer. It’s ok to believe in your company and what you do. You should shout your success stories from the highest mountain. Be proud of who you are and what you have built just don’t do it by trying to break someone else down. I carry this belief not only in business but in my personal life as well. If you find yourself in the situation that someone is speaking ill of someone or something, or making false claims, think about what their motive is and decide if that’s the company and energy you wish to be associated with.
